We are excited to have awarded the Brady Hunter Scholarship to Shania Allison, through a partnership between the Brady Hunter Foundation (BHF) and New York City. Established in honor of Juneteenth, this initiative aims to empower African American students in New York City and promote diversity within the veterinary field.
Veterinary medicine faces a significant shortage of African American representation, with less than 2% of practicing veterinarians identifying as African American, despite the group comprising over 13% of the U.S. population. The Brady Hunter Scholarship Fund has awarded a four-year scholarship to Shania Allison, an exceptional African American student pursuing a veterinary degree. This initiative is designed to break down barriers and inspire more African American students to enter the field, advancing both diversity and opportunities for future generations.
