The Campaign Against Hunger Partners with The Brady Hunter Foundation to Expand Urban Farming and Youth Empowerment Programs in NYC.
Brooklyn, NY – August 1, 2024 – The Campaign Against Hunger (“TCAH”) is delighted to announce a transformative partnership with The Brady Hunter Foundation through a generous grant which will play a crucial role in enhancing the organization’s Saratoga Hoop House and empowering local youth through sustainable farming initiatives. This grant follows an initial grant made last year by the Brady Hunter Foundation to support TCAH’s Weekend Healthy Snack Program.
The Foundation’s grant will specifically support the following programs:
Saratoga Hoop House:
- A 7,900 square-foot urban farm facility, which features an aquaponics system and has served as a nursery for seed germination. The Hoop House extends TCAH’s growing season to allow us to grow cool-weather crops and start seedlings. TCAH is committed to promoting food sovereignty and sustainable agricultural practice in under-resourced communities to inspire healthier life choices while providing pathways for at-potential youth to learn, earn, and grow.
- Saratoga Farm and Youth Empowerment Program: A 10-month training initiative designed to equip at-risk local youth with essential skills and opportunities for personal growth.
- Green Teen Internship Program: A summer internship initiative aimed at fostering leadership and sustainability practices among at-risk local youth.
“We are deeply grateful to The Brady Hunter Foundation for their unwavering commitment to our community,”” said Dr. Melony Samuels, Founder of The Campaign Against Hunger. “”This partnership marks a significant step forward in our efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and empower the next generation of leaders.”
“Together, we are advancing our mission to combat hunger and empower individuals through education and access to nutritious food,” she added.
“The decision to support The Campaign Against Hunger in these initiatives was an easy one,” says Josh Fox, a New York native and Founder of The Brady Hunter Foundation. “Partnering with The Campaign Against Hunger allows us to plant seeds of hope and opportunity for our community’s future leaders, fostering sustainable agriculture and empowering at-risk youth.”
The reimagined Saratoga Hoop House highlighting the partnership between TCAH, and the Brady Hunter Foundation will be officially unveiled on Monday, August 5th, 2024, at 12;00pm at 2010 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY 11233 . All media are invited to attend.
